AsiaPacific Rayon (APR), a vertically integrated viscose rayon manufacturer, has launched a mobile APP application for the “Follow Our Fibre” program , the initiative will provide traceability and transparency along the production value chain from seed to fiber.
APR has partnered with enterprise blockchain company Perlin to launch what it claims is the world’s first actual deployment of a blockchain solution to track the source of fiber.
APR’s “Follow Our Fiber” reflects long-term goals for sustainable pulp sourcing and responsible production. Its new app has been launched at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit held on May 15-16, 2019.
Using enterprise blockchain technology developed by Perlin, APR customers can trace finished products back to the origin of enterprise cultivation based on value chain data recorded on the blockchain.
Value chain data is timestamped and geo-located at key points accompanying production, then recorded and uploaded to immutable and publicly browsable blocks chain. APR’s customers and stakeholders can access the system by simply scanning product barcodes using the mobile app to view uploaded data to verify product sourcing and provenance.
APR is committed to sustainable development, striving to achieve the United Nations sustainable development goals and promote industry best practices,” said Cherie Tan, APR Vice President of Communications and Sustainability. Utilizing blockchain technology, we will continue to move toward greater corporate and environmental governance of our viscose rayon production history.
In the future, APR said, Works with Perlin and integrates other advanced data to track its environmental footprint and performance.
