In 2020, Bangladesh’s garment exports to the United States were US$5.22 billion, slightly lower than the level of US$5.92 billion in 2019.
In the first nine months of 2021, the import value of U.S. ready-made clothing was US$58.58 billion, an increase of 24.57% from US$47.02 billion in the same period of 2020; the amount of U.S. ready-made clothing imports from China and Vietnam US$13.74 billion and US$10.83 billion respectively.
People from Bangladesh’s garment manufacturing and export industry organizations suggest that local processing and export companies in Bangladesh seize the opportunity to improve their garment production capabilities. At the same time, there are concerns that rising energy prices in the international market may have an impact on the rising export momentum.
