According to China Customs statistics, the national fabric export volume from January to October 2016 was US$43.83 billion, a decrease of 3.7%; the average export unit price was US$1.29/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 8.1%. The import value was US$4.62 billion, down 11.5%. The average unit price of imports was US$2.23/meter, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%.
1. The amount of fabric exports declined in October.
In October 2016, the national fabric export value in a single month was US$4.35 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%, and the decline narrowed. Among them, cotton yarn increased by 1.4%; wool and animal hair woven fabric exports led the way, falling by 27.7%.
2. From January to October 2016, exports to ASEAN increased, exports to the EU rebounded, and exports to North America, Latin America and Japan all declined.
From January to October 2016, Asia was still the main market for China’s fabric exports, with export volume reaching US$29.33 billion, a slight decrease of 1.1% year-on-year. From January to October, exports to ASEAN grew steadily, reaching 3.6%. Among them, exports to the Philippines still showed significant growth, with exports of US$2.09 billion, an increase of 71.3%.
From January to October, China’s fabric exports to Hong Kong dropped by 9.2%. Exports to Bangladesh and India both increased, with increases of 3.8% and 9.8% respectively.
From January to October, China’s fabric exports to Japan were US$360 million, a decrease of 8.5%. Exports to the EU have been steadily recovering in recent months, with a year-on-year increase of 2%. Exports to Latin America and North America continued to decline, with export values reaching US$3.56 billion and US$1.6 billion respectively, a decrease of 12.3% and 11.1% respectively.
3. Except for wool, the export unit price of animal hair increased slightly, while the export prices of other fabrics declined.
The export unit price of wool animal hair woven fabrics increased slightly, with a unit price of US$7.64/meter, an increase of 2.7%. The export unit prices of cotton cloth, silk woven fabrics and chemical fiber woven fabrics all dropped slightly, by 10.4%, 3.7% and 7.9% respectively.

1. Exports of products under Turkish safeguard measures from January to October 2016
From January to October 2016, China’s textile and apparel exports to Turkey were US$1.52 billion, down 8.8% year-on-year, accounting for 0.7% of China’s total global textile and apparel exports, ranking 36th in China’s single export market. Among them, the export value of products under safeguard measures was US$630 million, a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%, accounting for 41.4% of China’s total textile and apparel exports to Turkey.
Among the products subject to safeguard measures, fabric exports were US$280 million, a year-on-year decrease of 17.6%, accounting for 44.4% of China’s total exports of products subject to safeguard measures to Turkey. The value of clothing exports was US$220 million, a year-on-year decrease of 8.2%, accounting for 34.9% of China’s total exports of products subject to safeguard measures against Turkey.

From January to October 2016, China’s textile and apparel exports to Indonesia were US$3.18 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 5.7%, accounting for 1.4% of China’s total global textile and apparel exports. Ranked 19th in China’s single export market, among which, the export value of products (fabrics) subject to safeguard measures was US$26.436 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8%, accounting for 0.8% of China’s total textile and apparel exports to Indonesia.
