On November 4, 2016, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) voted to apply the anti-dumping rapid sunset review industrial injury investigation procedure to polyester staple fiber (polyesterstaplefiber) imported from Taiwan, China and South Korea. Examine whether the damage caused to the U.S. domestic industry by the import of the products involved will continue or reoccur within a reasonably foreseeable period if the anti-dumping measures are lifted. In this ruling, all six members voted in the affirmative.

On April 29, 1999, the U.S. Department of Commerce launched an anti-dumping investigation into polyester staple fiber imported from Taiwan, China and South Korea. On August 1, 2016, the U.S. Department of Commerce launched the third anti-dumping and countervailing sunset review investigation into polyester staple fiber from Taiwan, China and South Korea.
