On October 28, 2016, Health Canada and SpiritHalloween jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made Halloween costumes.
The recalled products are SpiritHalloweenSpiderBellyBaby and SpiritHalloweenPuppyBellyBabyinfant Halloween costumes and toddler costumes in sizes 18-24M and 2-4T. The SKU code of the product is 07126162 (18-24M), 07126170 (2-4T), 01301415 (18-24M) or 01301423 (2-4T).
The recalled products were sold in Spirit Halloween stores and online stores in Canada from August 2016 to October 2016. 30 pieces of PuppyBellyBaby clothing were sold and 24 pieces of SpiderBellyBaby clothing were sold. The reason for the recall is that the eyes on the clothing may detach, posing a choking hazard to children. To date, Health Canada and SpiritHalloween have not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the use of this product. To help consumers celebrate Halloween safely, please see the following relevant Health Canada publications: HalloweenSafety and CanadianstohaveasafeHalloween.
Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. Canada implements voluntary recall of Chinese-made Halloween costumes
