The All Pakistan Textile Factories Association (APTMA) has adopted a new measure aimed at improving the conditions of Pakistani textiles in the global market and doubling the exports of Pakistan’s textile industry.
This proactive Triple Bottom Line (TBL) initiative is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy that focuses on designing Pakistan’s entire textile supply chain into an environmentally friendly A social industry that is model-shaped and responsible for people.
APTMA President Ahsan Bashir said at a press conference that a comprehensive strategy being developed will make full use of free market access under the EU Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) system.
APTMA aims to increase exports to US$30 billion within three years, he added.
APTMA has joined forces with Dubai-based Pakistani businessman and philanthropist Raza Jaffar to implement the TBL (Planet, People and Profit) initiative to improve the image of the textile industry.
The Permanent Chairman of the APTMA International Trade Committee said that APTMA is working hard to ensure the worker welfare of all its members, including health, safety and children’s education, which are part of the TBL strategy.
He added that APTMA has also formulated a comprehensive policy to convince international customers that Pakistan has a reliable business-oriented textile industry chain.
