According to Italian news agency ANSA, cotton trading prices rose again in the New York futures market that day, reaching $2.197 per pound, setting a new record. The price increase is mainly due to the shortage of cotton in China’s cotton market. In January 2011, China’s cotton imports increased by 31% year-on-year.
