Several textile companies in Nigeria closed due to decaying public facilities

Nigeria’s “Today” reported that according to the latest statistics from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), due to the inexorable decline of public facilities across Nigeria, more than 175 textile companies have closed down, 250,000 employees have lost their jobs, and exports have reduced foreign exchange earnings. 1.3 billion US dollars, it has also left a large number of employees in the remaining textile companies in uncertainty. Currently, only 25 textile companies in Nigeria continue to operate, employing a total of 24,000 employees. Due to the rampant counterfeit products, the actual output of these companies is less than 30% of their production capacity. Therefore, MAN called for the declaration of a state of emergency for the Nigerian textile industry to stop the current downward trend and avoid the demise of the entire industry.
