According to China Customs statistics, the national fabric export volume from January to November 2016 was US$48.31 billion, a decrease of 3.3%; the average export unit price was US$1.29/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 8.5%. The import value was US$5.15 billion, down 10.5%. Imports showed a decrease in volume and an increase in price, with an average unit price of US$2.24/meter, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%.
1. Fabric export value increased in November.
In November 2016, the national fabric export value was US$4.48 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. Among them, the export of chemical fiber fabrics was US$1.75 billion, an increase of 6%. Cotton cloth and wool animal hair decreased by 13.7% and 10.7% respectively.
2. From January to November 2016, exports to ASEAN increased, exports to the EU rebounded, and exports to North America, Latin America and Japan all declined.
From January to November 2016, Asia was still the main market for China’s fabric exports, with exports worth US$32.41 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%. From January to November, exports to ASEAN were US$15.51 billion, reaching 3.4%. Among them, exports to the Philippines showed significant growth, with exports reaching US$2.28 billion, an increase of 61.2%. Exports to South Asian countries Bangladesh and India both increased, with increases of 3.8% and 7.7% respectively.
Exports to the EU from January to November have been steadily recovering in recent months, with a year-on-year increase of 2.8%.
From January to November, my country’s fabric exports to Hong Kong dropped by 9.5%. Fabric exports to Japan were US$400 million, down 7.8%. Exports to Latin America and North America continued to decline, with export values reaching US$3.95 billion and US$1.78 billion respectively, a decrease of 9.5% and 9.2% respectively.
3. Except for wool, the export unit price of animal hair increased slightly, while the export prices of other fabrics declined.
The export unit price of woolen animal hair woven fabrics increased slightly, with a unit price of US$7.6/meter, an increase of 2.3%. The export unit prices of cotton cloth, silk woven fabrics and chemical fiber woven fabrics all dropped slightly, by 10.6%, 3.6% and 8.1% respectively.

From January to November 2016, China’s textile and apparel exports to Turkey were US$1.65 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8.5%, and the decline narrowed, accounting for 0.7% of China’s total global textile and apparel exports, ranking 36th in China’s single export market Bit. Among them, the export value of products under safeguard measures was US$670 million, a year-on-year decrease of 13.2%, accounting for 40.6% of China’s total textile and apparel exports to Turkey.
Among the products subject to safeguard measures, fabric exports were US$310 million, a year-on-year decrease of 16.7%, accounting for 46.3% of China’s total exports of products subject to safeguard measures to Turkey. The value of clothing exports was US$230 million, a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%, accounting for 34.3% of China’s total exports of products subject to safeguard measures against Turkey.

From January to November 2016, China’s textile and apparel exports to Indonesia were US$3.55 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%, accounting for 1.5% of China’s total global textile and apparel exports. Ranking 19th in China’s single export market, the export value of products (fabrics) subject to safeguard measures was US$29.05 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%, accounting for 0.8% of China’s total textile and apparel exports to Indonesia.
