Zhong Shan emphasized that the economies of China and Tajikistan are highly complementary, have a good foundation for cooperation, and have great development potential. Both sides should take the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” as an opportunity to further increase the scale of bilateral trade and strengthen investment and inter-local cooperation. China supports enterprises to invest in Tajikistan’s mineral development, chemical industry, textiles, building materials, agriculture and other fields through various methods such as building industrial parks. It is hoped that Tajikistan will create good conditions in terms of taxation and industrial policies, infrastructure support, and facilitation of personnel exchanges. It is hoped that both parties will continue to work hard to jointly promote the implementation of relevant projects and make China-Tajikistan inter-local cooperation a new highlight of the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

China-Tajikistan economic and trade cooperation has developed rapidly in recent years, and China has become Tajikistan’s second largest trading partner and source of investment. In 2014, the bilateral trade volume between China and Tajikistan was US$2.52 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.5%. Chinese companies have implemented a series of projects in Tajikistan such as highways, electric power and industrial facilities. The seventh meeting of the China-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee was held in Beijing on November 17.
