According to China Customs statistics, the national yarn import and export volume from January to September 2015 was 5.329 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%; the import and export volume was US$15.46 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%. Among them, the export quantity was 3 million tons, a decrease of 0.6%; the export value was US$8.47 billion, a decrease of 8.8%; the average export unit price was US$2.82/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 8.2%. The import quantity was 2.329 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 17.2%; the import value was US$6.99 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%; the average import unit price was US$3/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1%.
1. The amount of yarn exports declined in September.
In September, the number of yarn exports was 336,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%; the export value was US$880 million, a year-on-year decrease of 8%. The export value of wool animal hair yarn increased, reaching 70 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Among them, the export value of cotton yarn decreased most significantly, with the export value of US$120 million, a year-on-year decrease of 24.9%; the export value of silk thread and chemical fiber yarn were US$20 million and US$570 million, respectively, a decrease of 12.7% and 6.1%.

From January to September 2015, the Asian market accounted for 68.8% of my country’s yarn exports, with export volume reaching US$5.82 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8.2%. In the first nine months of this year, exports to ASEAN declined. The export volume was 443,000 tons, a decrease of 2.9%; the export value was US$1.29 billion, a decrease of 12.8%. Exports to Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia declined to varying degrees, with exports of US$540 million, US$200 million and US$100 million respectively, down 23.6%, 8.7% and 4.5% respectively. Exports to Cambodia and the Philippines increased, with exports of US$120 million and US$90 million respectively, an increase of 7.5% and 0.7% respectively. Exports to Myanmar had the largest increase, reaching US$50 million, an increase of 10.4%.
From January to September, China’s yarn exports to Hong Kong were US$1.26 billion, a decrease of 12.8%. Exports to the South Asian country Pakistan increased, reaching US$410 million, an increase of 1.3%; exports to India declined, with exports amounting to US$400 million, a year-on-year decrease of 16.5%.
From January to September, China’s yarn exports to Japan were US$300 million, a decrease of 4%. Exports to North America were US$460 million, an increase of 3.3%. Exports to the EU and Latin America were US$840 million and US$480 million, down 22.9% and 8.6% respectively.
3. The export unit price of cotton yarn has increased, while the export unit price of silk thread, wool animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn has declined.
From January to September 2015, the export unit price of cotton yarn increased, reaching US$4.92/kg, an increase of 2.3%; the export unit price of silk thread, wool animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn were US$39.79/kg, US$30.23/kg and 2.53 US dollars/kg, down 6.6%, 2.6% and 10.6% respectively.
