The newly elected chairman of the Southern India Textile Mills Association (SIMA) M. Senthilkumar said that SIMA will focus on four aspects in the next two years, namely enhancing the competitiveness of the industry and reducing raw material costs, especially the production of synthetic fibers. production costs, simplify market access, and increase industrial added value.
SIMA will establish two textile processing industrial parks in the country to increase Tamil Nadu’s textile processing capacity from 350 tons per day to 400 tons per day.
One of the parks is built in Cuddalore and is expected to be put into use in 2017. The park will establish a full industrial chain from yarn to clothing. It is expected that 10 companies will be settled in the park. The park’s production capacity is 250 tons per day.
Another park is built in Ramanathapuram, covering an area of nearly 200 acres, and will house at least 20 companies. The total investment in the park is close to 5 billion rupees (approximately RMB 482 million).
SIMA is the largest association of textile entrepreneurs in India and the only association in India with textile experts in all aspects from textile engineering design to textile marketing.
