Myanmar’s new national minimum wage standards are about to take effect

Myanmar’s “Golden Phoenix” reported on August 24: It was learned from the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security that on August 18, the Myanmar National Labor Minimum Wage Standard Setting Committee passed a minimum wage standard of 3,600 kyats per day (approximately US$2.8 per day). The new minimum wage standard for workers will come into effect after the federal government promulgates it at the end of August. It is reported that the national labor minimum wage standard was formulated based on the results of a survey of more than 20,000 households in more than 100 towns and districts across the country after tripartite talks between the government, employers and workers.
