According to a report by Cameroon Tribune on July 29, the textile industry contains a large number of opportunities and has been designated by the Cameroon government as one of the key areas of the Growth and Employment Strategy (DSCE). Cameroon’s Association for the Promotion of Women’s Employment (AssociationInitiativeEmploiFemmesetFilles) integrates women into Cameroon’s economic activities by opening textile workshops and training and employing women. Currently, the association has one workshop in Yaounde, employing 14 female workers.
The Chairman of the European Union Delegation to Cameroon and the French Ambassador to Cameroon visited the workshop opened by the Federation in Yaoundé on the 28th. The Ambassador said she was always pleased to see innovative measures to employ and train women so that they could acquire autonomy, productive skills and creativity to contribute to the country’s economy. A member of the EU delegation also made it clear that this innovative measure can first achieve a social goal: to free women from economic instability. At the same time, because the textile industry has strong market demand, this is also an innovative measure that can accelerate economic development.
The association also plans to open another workshop in the Lékié department, and more than 30 selected women may become employees of this workshop. Cameroon’s textile industry will introduce women’s power
