On October 10, 2014, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning on Chinese-made “Playback” brand baby T-shirts. The notifying country in this case is Hungary. The children’s T-shirts reported this time are dark blue, short-sleeved, and hooded children’s T-shirts. The following words are printed on the T-shirt: “68”, “ATHLETICDPT1968NewYorkUNIVERSITYATHLETICDPT”. The T-shirt also features non-fixed drawstrings. The sample size of this children’s t-shirt is 134. The style/model number of this product is T-1038, and the barcode is 6011037110383. In the OECD Portal Category, it is 67000000 (clothing).
The above-mentioned children’s T-shirts may pose a choking hazard to children because the drawstrings attached to the T-shirts can easily strangle children’s necks. This product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Hungarian authorities have taken compulsory measures to withdraw from the market and recall the above-mentioned products.
To this end, it is recommended that relevant domestic production and export enterprises attach great importance to this.
