According to China Customs statistics, the national yarn import and export volume from January to June 2014 was 3.334 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%, and the import and export volume was US$10.73 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.9%. Among them, the export quantity was 1.997 million tons, an increase of 10.2%; the export value was US$6.22 billion, a decrease of 0.5%; the average export unit price was US$3.11/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7%. The import quantity was 1.337 million tons, an increase of 1.4%; the import value was US$4.52 billion, a decrease of 1.3%. The average unit price of imports was US$3.38/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7%.
In the first half of this year, the overall national yarn export volume showed a slight upward trend, and the export volume basically remained stable.
1. The amount of yarn export increased slightly in June.
The monthly exports from January to June 2014 were: January exports were US$1.07 billion, down 1.1%; February exports were US$690 million, down 6.1%; March exports were US$1.08 billion, down 5.3%; Exports in April were US$1.2 billion, up 2.8%; exports in May were US$1.16 billion, up 5.5% year-on-year; exports in June were US$1.01 billion, down 0.9%.
The number of yarn exports in June was 336,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%; the export value was US$1.01 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.9%. Among them, the export value of chemical fiber yarn was US$640 million, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%; the export value of cotton yarn was US$170 million, a decrease of 11.6%; the export value of wool and animal hair yarn was US$90 million, a decrease of 14.1%.
2. From January to June 2014, exports to ASEAN, the EU, North America and Latin America all increased, while exports to Japan and South Asia declined.
From January to June 2014, the Asian market accounted for 69.4% of my country’s yarn exports, with export volume reaching US$4.31 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.7%. In the first half of this year, exports to ASEAN grew steadily, with the export volume reaching 307,000 tons, an increase of 34.8%, and the export value being US$1 billion, an increase of 19.1%. Among them, exports to Vietnam increased the most, with exports of US$480 million, an increase of 60%; exports to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia all increased to varying degrees, with exports of US$80 million, US$150 million, and US$90 million, respectively, an increase of 5.9% and 6.6%, 32.4%. Exports to Myanmar declined, with exports reaching US$30 million, a decrease of 22.4%.
From January to June, my country’s yarn exports to Hong Kong were US$1.04 billion, a decrease of 23.2%. Exports to South Asian countries India and Bangladesh both declined, with export amounts of US$300 million and US$440 million respectively, representing year-on-year decreases of 7.4% and 3.5% respectively.
From January to June, my country’s yarn exports to Japan were US$200 million, a decrease of 0.4%; exports to North America increased, with an export value of US$290 million, an increase of 16.5%. Exports to the EU and Latin America were US$720 million and US$320 million, an increase of 9.8% and 1.9% respectively.
3. The export unit price of silk yarn has increased; the export unit price of cotton yarn, wool animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn has declined.
From January to June 2014, the export unit price of silk yarn increased, reaching 43.9 US dollars/kg, an increase of 21.9%; the export unit prices of cotton yarn, wool animal hair yarn, and chemical fiber yarn were 4.78 US dollars/kg and 31.73 US dollars/kg. kg, 2.84 US dollars/kg, down 3.2%, 5.1%, and 9.3% respectively.
