Bangladesh holds textile and apparel exhibition overseas for the first time

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently announced that the 25th Bangladesh Garment and Textile Exhibition (BATEXPO) hosted by the association will be held in Paris, France from September 16th to 18th. This will be the first time the exhibition is held overseas.
This exhibition will attract 75 BGMEA member companies and 25 non-member companies to participate. The exhibition is held annually and has played a major role in promoting Bangladesh’s garment exports. Choosing to hold it in Paris this time, the organizers hope that by establishing a foothold in the French market, it will radiate to other European and Latin American countries, such as Argentina and Brazil. During the same period as the exhibition, BGMEA will also hold a seminar on the development prospects of Bangladesh’s garment industry.
According to statistics from the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh (EPB), from July 2013 to May 2014, Bangladesh’s garment export volume was US$22.178 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.83%. Among them, the export value to France was US$1.396 billion. Among the total garment exports to the country, the export value of knitted garments was US$869 million and the export value of woven garments was US$527 million.
