Myanmar’s garment industry has promising prospects

According to Myanmar’s “7DayDaily” report, according to U Min Soe, chairman of the Myanmar Garment Industry Association, due to the entry of foreign companies such as GAP, a large American garment company, into Myanmar this fiscal year, Myanmar’s foreign exchange earnings from garment exports this fiscal year are expected to reach $1.5 billion. This year, Myanmar garment companies have received orders not only from South Korea and Japan, but also from the United States and Europe, so the industry has a promising future. However, the development of Myanmar’s garment industry still faces many obstacles, including poor infrastructure, difficult customs clearance at ports, and inconvenient transportation. Myanmar’s garment exports hit a record in 2013-14, reaching US$1.1 billion.
