According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce on the 21st, officials from the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Iceland exchanged notes on the effectiveness of the China-Iceland Free Trade Agreement in Beijing on the 20th. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Agreement’s entry into force clauses, the Agreement will officially enter into force on July 1, 2014.
Negotiations on the China-Iceland Free Trade Area were launched in December 2006. On April 15, 2013, the two governments signed the Agreement in Beijing. The Agreement is the first free trade agreement signed between my country and a European country, covering many fields such as trade in goods, trade in services, and investment.
