The reporter learned from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles on the 5th that as of May 3, the Canton Fair’s textile and apparel hall had a cumulative transaction volume of US$1.34 billion. Among them, the biggest highlight of the Canton Fair’s textile and apparel export transactions was textile raw materials, achieving month-on-month and year-on-year growth.
According to reports, the situation faced by textile and garment exports at this Canton Fair is relatively complex. Although the global economic recovery situation is becoming increasingly clear, the foundation is still fragile, and the international textile and apparel market is still in a period of adjustment, which will have a negative impact on textile and apparel exports at this Canton Fair.
According to the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles, judging from the transactions at this Canton Fair, China’s textile and apparel export transactions to major markets have not improved significantly; the biggest highlight of the textile and apparel export transactions at this Canton Fair is textile raw materials.
As of May 3, the export volume of textile raw materials at this Canton Fair was US$57.814 million, an increase of 3.3% compared with the 114th Canton Fair, and a year-on-year increase of 95.4% at the 113th Canton Fair, achieving month-on-month and year-on-year growth. The commodities that contributed greatly to the increase in transactions were cotton yarn, wool animal hair yarn, chemical fiber cloth and linen gauze.
The chamber of commerce stated that domestic export enterprises are currently facing greater difficulties. The problem of high cost of textile and clothing raw materials has not been well solved, the rigid growth of labor costs, the trend of RMB exchange rate becoming increasingly uncertain, and the domestic macroeconomic situation. The tightening of monetary policy has further aggravated the financing difficulties of small and medium-sized enterprises and put greater pressure on the export operations of textile and garment enterprises.
