In the first month of the new year, Ningbo’s foreign trade has gotten off to a good start. Ningbo Customs yesterday released statistical data on Ningbo’s foreign trade operations in January this year. The data shows that in the first month of the new year, Ningbo’s total foreign trade reached 56.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%; if priced in US dollars, it was US$9.23 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6% , the foreign trade volume in a single month exceeded 9 billion US dollars again; among the 15 sub-provincial cities, the scale ranks third after Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
Although January coincides with the Lunar New Year, the import and export business has not been affected. On the contrary, in order to complete the import and export procedures of goods before the arrival of the Lunar New Year, various foreign trade companies in Ningbo accelerated the progress of import and export of goods in January. In mid-to-late January, the import and export business experienced a blowout, with the highest number of customs orders reported in a single day reaching 23,136 votes were cast, far exceeding the usual 10,000 votes. As a result, goods at Ningbo Port were stranded. Customs, state inspection, ports and other departments responded actively and used scientific and technological means to speed up the release of import and export goods. As a result, the total volume of import and export goods also increased significantly.
From the perspective of export commodities, the position of advantageous export products of labor-intensive products remains stable. The total exports of seven major categories of commodities include clothing and clothing accessories, textile yarns, small household appliances, plastic products, lamps, furniture and parts, and footwear. 12.95 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8%. The growth rate is 3.8 percentage points higher than the city’s overall export growth rate, accounting for 36.6% of Ningbo’s total export value during the same period. The export of mechanical and electrical products was 18.99 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.4%, accounting for 53.7% of Ningbo’s total export value during the same period. During the same period, the export of high-tech products was 2.16 billion yuan, a decrease of 6.9%.
The foreign trade import and export of private enterprises continued to grow steadily. The import and export of Ningbo private enterprises was 30.02 billion yuan, an increase of 0.6%, accounting for 53.2% of the total import and export value of Ningbo during the same period. The import and export of state-owned enterprises was 6.26 billion yuan, an increase of 41%. The import and export of foreign-invested enterprises was 20.2 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.5%.
