According to China Customs statistics, from January to September 2013, my country’s textile and apparel exports to Indonesia changed from the high growth rate of 34% in 2012 and showed signs of slowing down. The export volume was US$3.21 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%. Indonesia ranks 18th in China’s textile and apparel export market, accounting for 1.5% of China’s export market share. Among them, textile exports were dominated, accounting for 69% of the export share, reaching US$2.22 billion, an increase of 8.7%; clothing exports were US$990 million, an increase of 12.5%, accounting for 31%.
2. Monthly export situation
In the first nine months, five months of the year-on-year decline in textile and apparel exports to Indonesia were in March, May, June, July and September, with the decline ranging from 3% to 20%. Among them, exports in September were US$350 million, a decrease of 3.7%.
2. Yarn exports to Indonesia increased by 10.2 percentage points
From January to September this year, yarn exports to Indonesia were US$190 million, an increase of 10.2%. Among them, the export value of chemical fiber yarn was the highest, with an export value of US$150 million, an increase of 11%, and the average export unit price was US$2.88/kg, a decrease of 3%; the export value of cotton yarn dropped sharply, with an export value of US$21 million, a decrease of 19%, and the unit price was US$5.09/kg, an increase of 19%. 9.3%; wool animal hair yarn exports were US$7.88 million, an increase of 379%, and the unit price was US$16.65/kg, an increase of 7.2%.
The top three provinces and cities for yarn exports to Indonesia are Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong. The three provinces accounted for 66.6% of the yarn exports to Indonesia. Jiangsu, which ranked first, exported US$58.33 million, an increase of 32.4%, and Zhejiang and Guangdong exported US$40.2 million. and $33.19 million, down 0.3% and 7.3% respectively. Among the top ten exporting provinces and cities, Jiangxi and Shanghai had the highest export growth, with exports of US$10.56 million and US$8.49 million respectively, an increase of 52% each. Hubei and Liaoning, ranked 8th and 10th, exported 5.08 million and 3.85 million, down 34% and 27% respectively.
3. The growth rate of fabric exports to Indonesia has slowed down
In the first nine months of this year, fabric exports to Indonesia were US$1.46 billion, an increase of 8.1%. The export of cotton cloth was US$440 million, an increase of 14.7%, with a unit price of US$2.19/meter, a slight increase of 0.17%; the export of chemical fiber cloth was US$500 million, an increase of 2.2%, with a unit price of US$1.06/meter, a decrease of 4.4%; the export of wool and animal hair woven fabrics was 4850 million US dollars, with the highest growth rate of 27%, and the unit price was 8.14 US dollars/meter, a decrease of 5.6%.
The top three export provinces and cities are Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shandong, with export volumes of US$480 million, US$450 million and US$130 million, an increase of 3.1%, a decrease of 11.3% and a decrease of 1.8%.
4. Indonesia’s import share in major European and American markets
EU: According to EU customs statistics, Indonesia ranks tenth among the EU’s textile and apparel suppliers. The share of imports in the EU fell slightly. From January to July 2013, the United States imported US$3.36 billion in textiles and clothing from Indonesia, an increase of 3.6%, and its share of US imports increased from 5.01% in 2011 to 5.23% from January to July 2013.
