News: Textile and apparel export growth slows down

The latest data from the General Administration of Customs shows that in May 2013, my country’s exports of textiles and clothing were approximately US$22.972 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.21%, a decrease of 13.31 percentage points from the previous month, and a decrease of 2.14 percentage points from the same period last year; a month-on-month increase of 3.1% , the growth rate decreased by 30.16 percentage points from the previous month and 13.04 percentage points from the same period last year. Among them, exports of textile yarns, fabrics and products were US$9.715 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.28%, a decrease of 9.51 percentage points from the previous month, and a decrease of 1.77 percentage points from the same period last year; a month-on-month increase of 0.66%, a decrease of 27.94 percentage points from the previous month, and a decrease of 27.94 percentage points from the previous month. A decrease of 9.1 percentage points in the same period last year; exports of clothing and clothing accessories were US$13.258 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.16%, a decrease of 16.37 percentage points from the previous month, and a decrease of 2.41 percentage points from the same period last year; a month-on-month increase of 4.96%, a decrease of 32.09 percentage points from the previous month percentage points, a decrease of 16.34 percentage points compared with the same period last year.
From January to May 2013, the cumulative exports of textiles and clothing reached US$103.143 billion, an increase of US$12.488 billion over the same period last year. A year-on-year increase of 13.78%, an increase of 11.74 percentage points compared with the same period last year.
