Recently, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics released data showing that in the first 10 months of the 2012-2013 fiscal year (July 2012-April 2013), Pakistan’s total textile and apparel exports reached 10.749 billion US dollars, compared with 10.127 billion US dollars in the same period last year. The U.S. dollar rose 6.1%. Value-added products such as knitwear, mattress products, towels, and finished clothing products have become the main commodities driving the textile and clothing industry, while the export volume of some raw material products such as cotton yarn, spinning thread, and silk continues to decline.
It is reported that the European Union has implemented preferential foreign trade measures for 75 items of Pakistani goods since December last year, which has provided convenience for the export of Pakistani textile and clothing products.
