Merchants who produce footwear and textiles should pay attention. We learned from the Yiwu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that Egypt has recently issued new regulations on the supervision of import and export goods, and has formulated different customs clearance rules for the two major categories of products. The first category of products is final products such as footwear, leather bags, clothing, home textiles, carpets and floor coverings; the second category of products is intermediate products such as natural leather, artificial leather, footwear and accessories, textiles and dyed yarns.
The new regulations stipulate that there are three customs clearance methods for Class I products: one is based on the Egyptian Import and Export Commodity Inspection and Supervision Law, and producers must register with the General Egyptian Import and Export Control (GOEIC). Second, the goods must be accompanied by a recognized inspection and examination certificate, including shipping data, inspection and testing results, etc. The above should comply with Egyptian recognition standards. . Third, the inspection and review certificate can be issued by an Egyptian testing agency or a foreign agency, but the agency must be approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Trade and have an accredited standardized laboratory with testing capabilities for related products. GOEIC will conduct random inspections of imported goods. . The second category of products can be released based on the implementation of Egypt’s relevant import and export goods implementation regulations, but relevant testing fees must be paid.
