Pakistan’s Cotton Assessment Committee (CCAC) recently held its second meeting to assess cotton production this season. The committee predicts that Pakistan’s cotton production this season will reach 13.3 million bales (1 bale is 170 kilograms), lower than the production target of 14.6 million bales.
Abdul, Cotton Development Commissioner of the Ministry of Textile of Pakistan, said that despite the flooding in some cotton areas of Punjab and Sindh provinces this year, the expected cotton output is still encouraging. Punjab is expected to produce 9.6 million bales of cotton, Sindh 3.6 million bales, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan a total of 100,000 bales, etc., higher than the forecast at the last meeting. The Pakistan Cotton Assessment Committee will hold its third meeting at the end of this month to assess cotton production and formulate a sowing strategy for the next cotton season.
