According to Pakistan’s “Daily Times” report, the devastating floods in Pakistan may cause the loss of more than 1 million bales of cotton. The Ministry of Agriculture of Pakistan will review the agricultural production targets for this fiscal year after the floods end, calculate and announce the losses caused by the floods to the agricultural sector.
According to reports, Pakistan’s current annual domestic cotton demand is about 15.5 million tons, which is higher than the annual cotton production target of 14 million tons. Coupled with the huge losses caused by this flood, Pakistan’s cotton shortage will become more serious, further affecting Pakistan’s ability to complete its annual textile export target.
