On the occasion of the 8th Cotton Day, the African Cotton Producers Association (ACA) will hold a meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Cameroon from March 11 to 13. The meeting will focus on the large subsidies given to cotton producers in European and American countries. African countries must unite to formulate more effective development strategies, increase cotton varieties, and use biotechnology to increase cotton production. If African cotton production is to achieve great development, cotton producers, cotton processing companies, and sellers must unite. , take joint measures to deal with the impact of the international economic crisis and develop Africa’s cotton industry.
Currently, among the 53 countries in Africa, 37 countries produce cotton, there are 100 cotton seed removal companies, and 20 million people make a living from cotton. However, African cotton production faces strong competitors, such as cotton producers from the United States and India who enjoy state subsidies, and competition from China, known as the world’s cotton factory.
