According to Pakistan’s “News” report, Guhar, chairman of the Punjab branch of the All Pakistan Textile Enterprises Association (APTMA), said that due to the shortage of natural gas supply in winter, Pakistan’s textile industry has suffered monthly losses of up to 1 billion rupees (approximately 11.9 million rupees) recently. US dollars), about 200 textile companies in Punjab and the northwest border provinces were forced to close.
Guhar said that Pakistan Natural Gas Supply Company’s unauthorized increase in the weekly gas supply suspension time from 2 days to 4 days was the main reason for the large number of textile companies to close. If this situation continues, the industry is expected to suffer greater losses. Guhar called on the government and relevant departments to strictly implement the “Five-Year Development Policy for the Textile Industry” to help textile companies tide over the difficulties and strive to achieve the goal of textile exports of US$25 billion in 2014.
