According to recent preliminary statistics from the U.S. Textile and Apparel Office, U.S. textile and apparel imports remained basically stable from January to November 2009, with a decrease of about 10%, and the import volume was 38.49 billion square meters. Imports fell in 124 categories.
Among them, textile and clothing imports from China increased slightly by 1.9%, and the share of import volume increased to 40.69%. Among all categories, the import volume of 55 categories increased, of which 4 categories increased exponentially, and 3 categories were textiles, namely knitted fabrics (222), other short fiber yarns (607), and plain fabrics (627), with an average increase of above 200%.
