Nowadays, it is the spring silkworm harvest period in Dayao County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. According to Mao Mingli, director of Liangqiao Sericulture Purchasing Station in the county, this year’s silkworm cocoonsquality font>Very good. So far, 18 tons of spring cocoons have been purchased, which is doubled compared with last year. It is expected that 21 tons of spring cocoons will be purchased this year, and the income of the people from selling cocoons is expected to exceed 1.13 million yuan.
Wang Yaping, a sericulture farmer in Liangqiao Village, has raised 14 spring silkworms this year. She told reporters that with the income from cocoons and government subsidies, she expects to earn more than 100,000 yuan from raising silkworms throughout the four seasons this year.
Since last year, Dayao County has made every effort to build a green, high-quality and efficient demonstration base for sericulture, and the development of the sericulture industry has shifted gears and accelerated. At present, the county’s mulberry orchard area has reached 87,700 acres, producing more than 2,700 tons of fresh cocoons, with an output value of 160 million yuan.
