Linear density Tt is the legal unit of measurement. All fibers and yarns should use linear density to express their thickness. However, due to customary reasons, the indicators that express fiber thickness include denier and metric count. 1. Linear density (Tt) Linear density (Tt) indicates the thickness of fiber or yarn. It refers to the weight in grams of a 1000m-long fiber or yarn at a common moisture regain. It is a legal unit of measurement. The calculation formula is as follows: Where: Tt——Linear density of fiber or yarn, tex; L ——The length of fiber or yarn, m; Gk–the common weight of fiber or yarn, g. When the linear density of fiber or yarn is smaller, it is usually expressed in decitex and millitip. Dectex (dtex) refers to the metric grams of 10,000m long fiber, which is equal to one-tenth of a tex. Milligram (mtex) refers to the metric milligram number of 1000m long fiber, which is equal to one thousandth of a tex. 2. Denier (Nden) Denier (Nden) is the abbreviation of denier, which refers to the common weight in grams of 9000m long fiber and yarn. The calculation formula is: Where: Nden – the denier of the fiber or yarn, denier; L – the length of the fiber or yarn, m;
