Bangladesh’s exports mainly rely on woven garments and knitted garments

At present, Bangladesh’s exports of certain commodities are gradually becoming fragile, such as home textiles, footwear, etc., which showed negative growth in the first seven months of fiscal year 2009. Bangladesh’s exports now mainly rely on woven garments and knitted garments. If the export of these two categories of goods begins to decline, the entire export of Bangladesh will have a greater impact. According to statistics from the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau, exports of woven garments and knitted garments increased by 20.59% and 26.17% respectively in the first seven months of fiscal year 2009, amounting to US$3.4 billion and US$3.8 billion respectively. With clothing orders decreasing day by day, the outlook for clothing exports is not too optimistic and exports are expected to decline.
