On January 28, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Outdoor Research jointly announced a voluntary recall of “Primovolta” and “Primavolta” thermal gloves produced in China and Sri Lanka.
The warm gloves recalled this time are black and equipped with electronic heating elements. The style numbers are 77000 (men’s, divided into four sizes: S, M, L, and XL) and 77010 (women’s, divided into S, M, L3 size), the trademark “OR” is marked on the back of the right glove. From September 2008 to January 2009, it was sold in Major outdoor product stores across the United States, with a unit price of US$260 per pair.
The number of products recalled this time is about 900 pairs. The reason for the recall is that the electronic heating element of the thermal gloves is prone to short circuit or overheating, posing a risk of burning the user. At present, Outdoor Research has received five reports of overheating of the electronic heating elements of thermal gloves, and one user suffered burns on his hands.
For this reason, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled thermal gloves and contact Outdoor Research for a full refund or obtain a shopping card.
