The president of the All Pakistan Textile Factories Association said that Pakistan’s textile industry loses US$2 billion every year due to eight-hour power outage and interruption of natural gas supply to industrial units.
At the press conference, the president said that the textile industry faces 4-8 hours of power outages every day. During the winter, natural gas-burning industries faced close to 21 days of outage due to disruptions in natural gas supply.
The chairman revealed that 30% of units in the textile industry have closed due to the national energy crisis, and 30% of workers have also lost their jobs.
