Is cotton silk artificial cotton? Characteristics of cotton silk, cotton silk is artificial cotton. Cotton silk is the common name for cotton-type artificial staple fiber, also known as viscose fiber.
Characteristics of cotton silk:
Cotton-type viscose short fibers are chemically spun from natural polymer compounds such as cellulose or protein. Its specifications are similar to cotton fibers. The length is generally 35mm. The fineness is 1.5~2.2dtex. It can be spun purely on cotton spinning machines or blended with cotton or cotton-type synthetic fibers (such as polyester, nylon, etc.).
Cotton-type short fiber spun from natural cellulose. Mainly viscose short fiber. It is characterized by good dyeability, high brightness and fastness, comfortable wearing, resistance to dilute alkali, and hygroscopicity close to cotton. The disadvantages are that it is not acid-resistant, has poor resilience and fatigue resistance, low wet mechanical strength, and low pure spinning color fastness. It can be spun purely or blended with chemical fibers such as polyester.
Cotton and rayon are both cellulose. They have the same composition as starch, but the molecular weight is larger. Rayon is made by dissolving cellulose in a solvent and then spraying it out from a very fine nozzle to form filaments, similar to spider silk. Therefore, it is indistinguishable by burning it, and it mainly depends on the feel. Rayon should be smoother.
Cotton and silk fabrics will fade slightly when washed for the first time. And there will be shrinkage during washing, and the shrinkage range is generally around 7%.
Cotton and silk clothes absorb moisture, disperse sweat, and are soft and close-fitting. It can dry quickly after sweating during hot summer without affecting the softness of the clothes. And there is no strong sweat odor.
