Lutkiewicz, deputy CEO of Polish garment manufacturer LPP, said that due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the company has currently closed 95% of its regular stores. The company’s turnover has dropped significantly, so the distribution channel generated 90% of sales in 2019.
According to Lutkiewicz, the development of e-commerce is very important in this situation. Diversifying channels to acquire customers plays an important role. All LPP company online stores are currently selling spring and summer series products.
In addition, Lutkiewicz said that job retention is the company’s top priority. As of the end of 2019, the company employed a total of approximately 24,500 employees. But the company has decided to end temporary contracts with part-time workers hired before the pandemic to help drive traffic to stores. The company’s decision is to prevent large-scale layoffs. In addition, the company cut the salaries of headquarters employees and kept those employees who were unable to work. Now members of the company’s management board have also temporarily given up their salaries.
