On November 6, 2019, the WTO Safeguards Committee released the safeguard notification submitted to it by the Indonesian delegation on November 5, 2019. The Indonesian Safeguards Committee made a preliminary ruling on safeguard measures on imported synthetic fiber yarns and man-made staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads) (Yarn (other than Sewing Thread) of Synthethic and Artificial Staple Fibres), recommending that a temporary safeguard measure tax of 1,405 Indonesian rupiah/kg be levied on the products involved. Validity period is 200 days. The Indonesian tax numbers of the products involved are 5509.22.00, 5509.32.00, 5509.51.00, 5509.53.00, 5510.12.00, and 5510.90.00. The above safeguard measures are not applicable to the products involved imported from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, the Macau Special Administrative Region of China, and Taiwan Region of China.
On September 20, 2019, in response to an application submitted by the Indonesian Textile Association on September 18, 2019, the Indonesian Safeguards Committee imposed a ban on imported synthetic fiber yarns and artificial Short fiber yarns (except sewing threads) initiate safeguard measures and investigate. The survey period is 2015-2018.
