Bangladesh’s jute products export revenue drops sharply

According to a report by Bangladesh’s “Independent” on May 27, due to factors such as the depreciation of the US dollar in the global market, Sino-US trade friction, lack of strategic marketing strategy, and high cost of jute raw materials, Bangladesh’s jute supply has declined. Product export revenue has dropped significantly. Data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) shows that the export value of jute and jute products from July 2018 to April 2019 was US$695.52 million, compared with US$889.74 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year, a year-on-year decrease of 21.83%. Among them, the export value of jute bags was US$73.52 million, compared with US$110.8 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year, a year-on-year decrease of 33.65%.
