On September 4, the first Uzbekistan International Textile Conference was held in the capital Tashkent. The event was hosted by Haydarov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Light Industry Federation. Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Ataronov, Chairman of the Swiss International Textile Association Jishank, and Regional Manager of International Finance Group Aksana attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
In his speech, Ataronov reviewed the history, current situation and prospects of Uzbekistan’s textile industry, pointing out that the textile industry is one of the important pillars of Uzbekistan’s national economy and plays a decisive role in the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan. In recent years, Uzbekistan’s textile industry has developed rapidly. There are more than 7,000 textile companies in the country, including more than 150 wholly foreign-owned and joint ventures. It has attracted a cumulative investment of more than 3.1 billion U.S. dollars, of which more than 40% is foreign direct investment. It has built 15 A textile industry cluster, and 50 more industrial clusters will be built in the future. From January to August 2018, the total textile export volume exceeded US$800 million and was widely sold to Europe, East Asia, China, Russia and other places. In the future, Uzbekistan will continue to increase the scientific and technological content of the textile industry, improve the upstream and downstream industrial chains, increase the added value of products, and strive to achieve localized processing of all Uzbekistan’s total cotton output.
