Ministry of Commerce: China has to make necessary countermeasures and implement them simultaneously with the United States

The U.S. decided to impose an additional 25% tariff on $16 billion of Chinese products exported to the U.S. starting from August 23, once again placing domestic law above international law, which is a very unreasonable approach. In order to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests and the multilateral trading system, China had to take necessary countermeasures and decided to impose an additional 25% tariff on US$16 billion of imported products from the United States, and implemented it simultaneously with the United States.
