On December 23, 2016, Health Canada and OkKids jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made baby pajamas.

The recalled products are baby pajamas of various sizes, made of 100% cotton, with various animal patterns on the clothes.

The recalled product was sold in 627 units in various retail stores in Quebec and New Brunswick, Canada from February 2016 to December 2016. The reason for the recall is that Health Canada’s sampling tests determined that the recalled products did not meet the requirements of Canadian law regarding the flammability of children’s pajamas. Children’s loose-fitting pajamas are more likely to come into contact with ignition sources such as stoves, candles and matches than tight-fitting pajamas. Once ignited, loose pajamas will burn quickly and may cause severe burns over large areas of a child’s body. Therefore, cotton is not allowed in loose fitting pajamas fabrics.

As of December 5, 2016, OKKIDS has not received any accident reports or personal injury reports related to the use of this product. For more information about sleepwear safety, check out the HealthyCanadianschildren’ssleepwear page.

Health Canada recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to any OKKIDS store to receive coupons. Canada implements voluntary recall of Chinese baby pajamas
