According to the “Daily Star” report on January 1, industry insiders in Bangladesh’s garment industry said that the garment industry in Bangladesh will continue to maintain a growth rate of 10% in 2017 and become the world’s second largest apparel exporter. At the same time, Bangladesh’s garment industry still faces many challenges such as shortage of skilled workers, frequent labor disputes, low production efficiency and management level, backward infrastructure, and shortage of natural gas and electricity supply. To this end, efforts should be made to diversify the market, open up new markets, maintain political stability, and strengthen labor rights, corporate governance, and environmental protection in order to continue to enjoy tariff preferences in the EU market.
Mohammadi Group, Bangladesh’s leading apparel export company, stated that in 2017 it will expand its business scale, increase investment in research and development, complete company reorganization, and produce more value-added products to increase production efficiency, improve the company’s image, and enhance competitiveness. The outlook for Bangladesh’s garment industry is optimistic in 2017
