On October 28, 2016, Health Canada and NestDesigns jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s pajamas.

The recalled product is a bamboo cotton pajama set, made of 70% man-made fiber and 30% cotton, in sizes S, M and L.

57 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada from March 2016 to December 2016. The reason for the recall is that Health Canada’s sampling tests determined that the recalled products did not meet the requirements of Canadian law regarding the flammability of children’s pajamas. Children’s loose-fitting pajamas are more likely to come into contact with ignition sources such as stoves, candles and matches than tight-fitting pajamas. Once ignited, loose pajamas will burn quickly and may cause severe burns over large areas of a child’s body. Therefore, cotton is not allowed in loose fitting pajamas fabrics.

As of December 9, 2016, NestDesigns has not received any reports of accidents or personal injuries from Canada related to the use of this product. For more information about sleepwear safety, check out the HealthyCanadianschildren’ssleepwear page.

Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the store where they were purchased. Canada implements voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s pajamas
