On July 12, local time, the 17th China Textile and Apparel Trade Exhibition opened at the Javits Convention and Exhibition Center in New York. More than a thousand exhibitors from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan and other countries and regions participated in the exhibition. The exhibits covered clothing and accessories, clothing fabrics and accessories, home textiles, etc.
Gao Yong, vice president and secretary-general of the China National Textile and Apparel Federation, said: “Amidst the negative growth of China’s foreign trade exports, China’s apparel exports to the United States continue to grow, which is the only major Chinese apparel export market such as Europe and Japan. The purpose of holding the exhibition in the final consumer market country is to better integrate the US market with Chinese manufacturers. This year’s exhibition is more market-oriented, and the proportion of outdoor clothing and sportswear has increased significantly.”
Yu Xiaolian, manager of Dexin Computer Embroidery Factory in Huizhou, Guangdong, which participated in the exhibition for the first time, said that the technological level of many of the company’s computer embroidery products is currently unavailable in Southeast Asian countries. By participating in the New York exhibition this time, on the one hand, I hope to use this platform to expand more customers, and on the other hand, I hope to appreciate the most cutting-edge trends here.
Lin Xuefeng, general manager of Fujian Aofeng Company, who has been in the U.S. market for many years, said that the United States will still be the main driving force for China’s overall export growth of textiles and clothing in the future. At the same time, the United States is also the vane of the global consumer market. At the New York exhibition, observing changes in global consumption habits and trends is also an important gain.
At the scene, many exhibitors said that it is currently unrealistic to bring conventional products to the United States to look for big orders. “When we go to the U.S. to participate in an exhibition, we no longer bring whatever products the company originally produces, but bring specially produced samples based on the U.S. market trends.” Wen Jing, the person in charge of the Chinese company SKHFASHION’s booth, responded to the inquiries of Zhang Qiyue, the Chinese Consul General in New York who visited the exhibition. Shi said. Zhang Qiyue also talked to the person in charge about the trends in the American clothing market: “Currently, sports, outdoor and other functional clothing are very popular in the United States.”
The three-day 17th China Textile and Apparel Trade Exhibition is hosted by the China Textile and Apparel Industry Federation and hosted by the Textile Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Messe Frankfurt (USA).
