Russia plans to build a cotton spinning mill in Tajikistan’s “Penchi River” Free Economic Zone

According to a report by Tajikistan’s “AVESTA” website on September 10, Russian companies plan to establish cotton spinning enterprises in Tajikistan’s “Penchi River” Free Economic Zone. The project is currently in the research stage. The implementation of the project will attract a large amount of investment in the development of the economic zone, increase local cotton processing volume, and create new job opportunities. Tajikistan produces 100,000 tons of cotton annually, but the processing capacity of local companies only accounts for 8-10% of the output, and most of it is exported abroad. The main reasons are the company’s lack of working capital, poor market sales, and aging process equipment.
