The new beginning between India and China was boosted by the textile industry of Gujarat. In order to promote the new textile policy, the Government of Gujarat has extended an invitation to Shaoxing, the textile capital of China.
Recently, the India-China Economic and Cultural Promotion Council (ICEC) handed over a letter written on hand-embroidered textile crafts from Gujarat to the mayor of Shaoxing who was about to visit Gujarat. A delegation of Chinese textile companies is expected to visit India next month.
Jagat Shah, President of ICEC in Gujarat, issued an invitation. He said: “Several Chinese companies are very interested in establishing enterprises in Gujarat. Therefore, it is necessary to publicize our policies.”
Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, China is regarded as the center of China’s textile industry and the largest textile base in Asia. Chinese companies have expressed interest in setting up operations in Gujarat as cotton production has grown significantly in the state. China’s textile industry is braking on its strategy to establish companies in Gujarat to reduce transportation costs of raw materials and finished products.
