Iran carpet exports grow

According to Iran’s “News” report, the director of Iran’s National Carpet Center said that despite the global economic recession in 2009, Iran’s carpet exports increased compared with the previous year. Iran’s carpet exports reached US$429 million in the first 11 months of the calendar year. The director pointed out that Iran’s carpet exports have been on a downward trend in the past 20 years, but in the past two years the government has increased its efforts on carpet exports, established a carpet research center, and organized carpet experts to design new patterns, resulting in carpet exports increasing month by month.
