On December 3, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and NTD Apparel jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made “Hello Kitty” children’s zipper hoodies.
The recalled children’s zippered hoodies are silver and gray, with decals on the right side and screen printing on the left side and left sleeve. The specifications are 2T, 3T, 4, 5, 6 and 6X. “NTD APPAREL”, “D1592H7273” and RN code 116180 are marked on the collar label and warning label. The hoodie has been sold in Macy’s stores and Dillard’s department stores across the United States from November to December 2008, with a unit price of US$36 per piece.
The number of products recalled this time is about 1,200. The reason for the recall is that the drawstrings on the hoodies pose a stranglehold hazard to children and violate U.S. federal safety standards for children’s clothing. So far, NTD Apparel has not received any accident reports.
For this reason, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately pull out the drawstring in the hoodie to eliminate the danger, or contact the retail store or NTD Apparel Company for a return and full refund.
