There are two famous formulas, namely Peirce’s theoretical formula and Brieley’s empirical formula. (1) Pierce theory calculation formula The Pierce theory calculation formula has the following assumptions: (1) The yarn in the fabric has a perfect circular cross-section (uniform body). (2) When the warp and weft yarns in the fabric are closely arranged, the yarns have no straight segments in the fabric cross-section (assuming that the yarn deformation shape is relatively regular). (3) Assume that the yarn is -dimensional (plane). Taking plain weave fabric as an example, the relationship between the warp and weft yarns of a tightly structured fabric is:
